Camera trapping took place on Naledi for 13 days, over this time period 24 species were recorded, 50% of which were recorded within the first 4 days of sampling and 90% of which were recorded after 9 days of sampling. Such a trend is extremely common in biodiversity sampling, where common species are recorded quickly, yet the more illusive species or those with larger territories are only recorded after an extended period of sampling. This is evidenced through the species accumulation curve which shows some flattening but has not yet completely flattened, thus indicating that more species are likely to be recorded if camera trapping is continued in the future.
The below is a selection of highlight images which were captured. Notable species records include aardvark, African wild cat, leopard and eland.
